Emirates Post issues special stamp to mark Golden jubilee of Dubai Police

Emirates Post has issued a commemorative stamp to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Dubai Police.

The new stamp, issued in coordination with Dubai Police, is available at all UAE post offices. In addition, First Day Covers, are available at Deira Main Post Office, Dubai Central Post Office (Karama) and Abu Dhabi Central Post Office.

"Dubai Police has played a crucial role in the development of the emirate by using advanced policing methods," commented Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post. "Dubai is widely acknowledged as one of the safest places on earth. On the occasion of the golden jubilee, Emirates Post salutes Dubai Police for its pioneering role in the social and economic development of the emirate of Dubai."

Dubai Police was established on June 1, 1956, at Naif Castle, which is currently a police station. In 1973, Dubai Police moved to its current headquarters. From the start, it was driven by its mission of becoming an ace anti-crime force that fights criminals and protects the rights and freedom of the people.

Dubai Police is one of the most modern Arab policing organizations made up of 15,000 highly educated and multi-skilled members. It is an integral part of the UAE Police that is headed by HH General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai

Dubai Police was the first Arab police force to apply the DNA system in criminal investigation. It was the first Arab police to use the Electronic Fingerprint. It was also the first in the Arab world to practice e-Government. Dubai Police was ahead of advanced countries in the use of Patrol Tracking System using LORAN-C. Social policing has been one of the strong points of Dubai Policing. It also added to the organizational chart a new department to look after Human Rights.
