The agreement was signed by Mohammed bin Brek, COO of Dubai Projects, and JT Bernard, CEO of the Federation Dentaire Internationale. Also in attendance was Fahed Al Gerghawi, Director of International Relations, Dubai Properties, and representatives from INDEX, the organizers of the event.
Speaking about the agreement, Mohammed bin Brek, said:
"The agreement comes in line with DP's plans to support its corporate social responsibility through sponsoring and supporting local, regional and international events that contribute towards a creating better life for communities."
He added that the DP's sponsorship of this international event would also promote the private sector's contribution towards other sectors.
According to the agreement, Dubai Properties will be the exclusive National Partner of the FDI, which will be held this year in China and in Dubai in 2007. DP will also be involved in other related activities organized by INDEX in the USA, Brazil and other GCC and European countries.
The event will connect a number of medical experts and dentists from all over the world. There are currently more than one million dentists working in this sector in 165 countries.
Dr. Bernard, CEO of FDI, said: "This is the first time since FDI's inception that we have partnered with a non-medical corporation for such an international event. This cooperation will benefit the FDI, Dubai Properties and INDEX.
"I was impressed by Dubai when I visited the city two years back in order to evaluate the emirate, which was chosen among other Arabian cities as the ideal place to organize the congress in 2007. During my visit, I had the honor to meet His Highness Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Industry and President of Department of Health and Medical Services. The meeting reinforced our decision to organize the Congress in Dubai."
It is expected that over 25,000 specialists and experts from all over the world will attend the congress.
Dr. Bernard pointed out that FDI partnership with Dubai Properties ensures great support from both the public and private sectors in the UAE, which will host the congress in 2007.
