Duncan McLellan, general manager of the group said,
"We believe that if we take care of our staff - most of whom are a long way from all that is familiar and the infrastructure of family support - they in turn will remain loyal and committed to the business, which in turn will reduce staff turnover and provide financial benefits all round."
Dubai Holding Group will be opening further stores in Dubai Festival City in the autumn and is expanding its operations further into Qatar and Bahrain. New staff will therefore require assistance with accommodation and transportation.
McLellan continued, "We are in a people business, and while not exactly a family unit, the company is the first place an employee in trouble will turn. Standing on your feet all day serving customers and maintaining a smile for the public at all times can be exhausting. The last thing you want to do at the end of a long day is to come home and take care of the laundry! We are therefore introducing a house cleaning and maid service, similar to those of a hotel, to ensure high standards of hygiene - uniforms are clean and pressed, sheets and towels are fresh and plentiful and accommodation is well maintained with adequate facilities and home comforts."
Dubai Holding Group is a progressive and fast growing retail group with international fashion franchise stores throughout The Gulf. Representing Zara, Stradivarius, women'secret and Promod, it aims to bring diversity and choice to the Gulf customer, offering fashion brands at affordable prices.
The company was founded in 2000 to represent retail brands across the Gulf region. Today, it is well established as a stable and reliable business partner for world renowned European fashion brands, operating 16 stores across the region, which employs 200 staff, and represents 17 nationalities. A further ten new store openings are planned in 2006.
