Given the volatility of the stock markets, the foreign exchange market has emerged as an asset class in its own right.

The foreign exchange market can be considered by far the largest marketplace in the world, not only geographically but also with reference to trading volume. The daily turnover is growing constantly and has long ago surpassed the $1 trillion mark. Foreign Exchange trading is a market worth 40 times the size of global international trade, making it also the most liquid market in the world.

In order to introduce this new asset class to its clients, Barclays Bank will be hosting a seminar on the importance of structured investing in Foreign Exchange Markets. The event, which will be held at the Fairmont Hotel on June 7th, will highlight ways of benefiting from FX Structuring, and will be led by Barclay's international specialists.

Commenting on the importance of this seminar, David Inglesfield, Head of Barclays International Premier in the U.A.E, said:

'Foreign Exchange is gaining favour as an asset class, and is a potentially good source of investment returns. Structuring techniques allow clients to take specific FX exposure in ways which tailor the risk and return profile to their needs, whether to seek better returns or to hedge underlying exposure. As one of the leaders in structuring, Barclays is hosting this briefing to ensure that our clients are informed of the latest trends and solutions in Foreign Exchange structuring.'

The seminar will be led by two of Barclays' leading industry specialists - Philippos Kassimatis, Director and Head of FX-Linked Structured Products at Barclays Capital in London, and Karen Aubouy, Global Head of Structured products at Barclays Private Bank in Geneva.

Kassimatis, who leads a team providing FX and FX-hybrid solutions for financial institutions including private banks, will talk about Trends in Foreign Exchange Structuring and will explain the latest structuring techniques creating attractive opportunities in Foreign Exchange.

Karen Aubouy will showcase Structured Note Opportunities. Her talk will encompass examples of the ways private clients can benefit from FX Structuring. Aubouy will also introduce a new structured note developed exclusively for this seminar. Karen Aubouy leads a team providing structured products across all asset classes to Barclay's clients in London, Geneva, Monaco, Hong Kong, Singapore and UAE.

'This seminar presents a great opportunity for us to interact, share information and get feed back directly from our clients. Barclays Bank will continue to organize such initiatives in the future as part of our commitment to ensure our clients are best informed about developments in global investment markets.' concluded Inglesfield.
