  • PRESS RELEASE

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has expedited its overseas promotional drive with its first-time participation in the 'UAE in Romania' exhibition in Bucharest from May 31 - June 4.

The exhibition was held in conjunction with the Bucharest International Fair for Consumer Goods (TIBCO), one of the largest international fairs for consumer goods in Romania.

This was the first time that the DTCM organised and participated at the "UAE in Romania" exhibition with the aim of taking Dubai's hot-shot tourist attractions to the Romanian market.

The DTCM was joined by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA) in its participation at "UAE in Romania"

Mr. Khalid bin Nassar, DTCM Executive Overseas Promotions said:

"This was the first time that we participated in the exhibition. It is expected to have a very fruitful outcome for us since Romania is one of the fastest growing economies in the world."

The DTCM delegation held several meetings with the officials of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and local trade organizations like the Romanian Agency for Exporters & Importers and Romanian Agency for Overseas Investments in an effort to further strengthen trade relations.

The year 2005 saw a 37 per cent increase in the number of Dubai hotel guests from Romania. There was a 9 per cent increase in the number of Romanians using the Dubai International Airport last year.

There are three weekly flights between Dubai and Romania.
