Ahlan is a warm greeting in Arabic that roughly translates to 'Welcome' in English but has deeper connotations. The hotline is a very handy service providing the necessary information about the DSS at your fingertips, quite literally. Enthusiastic voices on the phone always at hand to help are setting the pace of things for the grand summer full of fun, entertainment and knowledge.
Says Samia Mohammed, DSS Senior Co-ordinator,
"The hotline is manned by volunteers who answer calls in Arabic, English, Italian, French, Urdu, Persian and other major languages. While the hotline is active throughout the year it receives more calls before and during the DSS, which is also the time of year when more operators chip in. This year Ahlan Dubai has already employed 12 more volunteers to take additional calls and the service is now available 24 hours a day for the ease and convenience of callers."
The frequency of enquiries from families, tourists and shoppers from various GCC states and Europe and other parts of the world rises sharply before and during the DSS. Callers are given latest information about the opening ceremonies of the different surprises, the names of the winners of the various raffle draws, the DSS official guide, Modhesh Fun City, the Modhesh Friends Club and all activities related to DSS and Dubai in general.
"Volunteers at Ahlan are already flooded with calls enquiring about the Grand Raffle ever since its launch on May 31. Other frequently asked questions pertain to DSS venues, shopping and hotel discounts and special promotions during the 10 week long summer fiesta," added Samia.
The hotline 600545555 updates its databank regularly to provide the latest and correct information about the various events. Friendly, welcoming voices with immaculate telephone manners promptly respond to the queries.
Numerous calls related to the themed weeks and their various events and Modhesh Fun City as well as Modhesh Fun Club as being answered daily. Many children are also calling up to find out about the latest bags of goodies that Modhesh will bring them this summer. The hotline also guides people on routes and locations.
