DTCM utilise AIME 2006 to boost outbound tourism from Australia

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) as part of its initiative to put Dubai on top of the world tourism map led a delegation to the Asia-Pacific Incentive and Meetings Expo (AIME 2006) in Melbourne, Australia.

The 14th edition of the exhibition was held from June 6 to 7 at the Melbourne Exhibition centre where the DTCM set up a stand measuring 75 sq. mts shared by 14 co-participants from the private sector.

The AIME 2006 offers the best collection of destinations, products and services to travel and trade visitors from worldwide. The 2005 edition attracted a record 827 exhibitors from 50 countries.

In 2006, the exhibition showed a robust growth with 850 exhibitors from 50 countries sharing an overall 12,500 sq. metres of floor space.

The DTCM Deputy Manager, Overseas Promotions Mr. Saleh Al Geziry who led the delegation said :

"The AIME 2006 is an important exhibition providing us with a platform to network with Australian travel and trade professionals and increase our share in the Australian market."


Australia is one of the key markets for Dubai with a 46 per cent increase in Australian hotel guests Dubai in 2005. There was also a 28 per cent increase in the number of Australian passengers passing through the Dubai International Airport.
