Top Government leaders to attend Harvard accredited programme on "Public Financial Management"

The Dubai School of Government, in association with Harvard University's John F Kennedy School of Government (KSG), hosted yesterday a five-day Executive Education Programme (EEP) on Public Financial Management, as part of the Government Leaders Programme.
Fatima Khouri, coordinator of the Mohammed bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development said: "Harvard University conducts an annual conference on Public Financial Management. The Dubai edition has been customized to meet the needs of local and regional government leaders.
"Conducting a programme that has been instituted by one of the world's top schools allows the region's policy makers to keep pace with the latest practices and skill sets of public financial management so critical to the success of today's government leader."
Khouri added that the conference will study, analyse and determine the implications of global public financial management practices through a unique combination of academic and 'real world' instruction to improve performance, interaction and productivity.
Yasar Jarrar, executive dean of the Dubai School of Government, said: "The close partnership between the Dubai School of Government, the Government Leaders Programme, and Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government allows local and regional government leaders to expand their perspectives of executive responsibility, and broaden their knowledge of leadership principles."
The panel of experts at the conference includes Dr. Stephen Peterson, Faculty Chair of Executive Programme in Public Financial Management of the Kennedy School; Dr. Perran Penrose, an economist from Oxford University, UK and Hilary Rantisi, director of the Middle East initiative at John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
The Government Leaders Programme is an innovative leadership and executive development initiative created by the Mohammed bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development.
The programme offers the region's senior-level government officials and future policy makers with an opportunity to explore leadership strategies to improve the delivery of government services in the UAE. This is accomplished through interactions with outstanding speakers and faculty members from leading international universities including the John F Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
