New initiative to strengthen Dubai-Padova tourism ties

The Director General of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, met in his office today (June 10), Dr. Ubaldo Lonardi, President of the Turismo Padova Termee Euganee (Tourism Board of Padova), Italy to review ways to enhance bi-lateral tourism and mutual cooperation between the two destinations.

Padova, a chieftown in the Veneto province is known as an important agricultural and tourism spot due to its strategic location to Venice. Dr. Lonardi evinced interest in knowing more about the 'Dubai experience' in leveraging its position as a leading trade and tourism hub in the world.

Mr. bin Sulayem highlighted Dubai's recent spectacular growth in infrastructure and facilities that has the potential of transforming it into a glittering metropolis of the future.

They agreed that there was tremendous scope in enriching bi-lateral tourism ties between Dubai and Padova and such initiatives would benefit both the destinations in the future.

Italy is an important market for Dubai's tourism The number of Italian passengers passing through the Dubai International Airport increased by 11 per cent during 2005.

Dubai's trade value with Italy jumped 34 per cent in 2005.
