Scheme for low paid AD expats

The code of regulations for a new health insurance scheme in Abu Dhabi that will benefit 500,000 low income expatriates has been approved by the Executive Council, reported Gulf News. Phase one comes into effect from July 1 and all governmental companies must adhere to it, as well as private companies with over 1,000 employees. Phase two commences in January 2007 and will apply to companies with under 1,000 employees.
