This club, developed especially for children during the DSS, opened registrations on May 30 and has been receiving an overwhelming response ever since with lots of completed forms trickling in from five-to-13-year-olds. As the club accepts only 300 to 350 memberships, children rushed to register to the DSS office as soon as the registrations were announced lest they miss out on all the fun the club promises to its members.

Beginning June 24 the club, sponsored by the Dubai Islamic Bank, will have entertaining and educational activities for children to spend a rollicking summer vacation. It will give them an opportunity to interact with friends from different communities and develop new skills. Storytelling, games, art and craft, theatre and music, are some of the activities planned to engage the young club members. Besides they will also get practical training by representing the DSS officially at occasions and events. Outdoor activities and field trips will be organised in association with Government Departments and different private firms.

Modhesh Friends Club has been a major draw among the kids ever since its launch in 2004. It has gained in popularity and become an important summer activity for the little ones. The club will function from 10am to 5pm five days a week (Saturday through Wednesday) and the members will have the option to join in the Modhesh Fun City over the weekends) at the 16 specially designated areas of Dubai World Trade Center Hall 2. Members are divided into two age groups - five to six years and seven to 13 years. The younger children will have more fun related activities while the older children will benefit from the learning-based agenda. The club members will be accommodated in 16 class rooms and the children will participate in different themed plays, concerts and dance shows, parades, fashion shows, parties, games and competitions. There will be separate divisions for boys and girls.

Seminars will be conducted on topics as diverse as health and nutrition to friendship and family values.

Membership forms are available at the front desk of the DSS Office. A birth certificate or a passport copy and two photographs of the child must accompany the duly completed form. While the club management will provide transport for any outdoor activities and field trips, parents are responsible for transportation to and from the Club's venue. Membership is limited to first 300 children (350 maximum) The non-refundable fee, inclusive of lunch, covers the two-month period from June 24 to August 24.

An experience at Modhesh Friends Club is one to cherish all life as most of the ex-members say. It provides a training ground to nurture skills and mould young minds to face the challenges of life in future. It is indeed a golden opportunity to be a part of this exclusive club and enjoy the many benefits it offers.
