RAK bans polystyrene cups

The Ras Al Khaimah Municipality has issued a circular banning the use of rigid polystyrene cups for hot drinks, reported Gulf News. Mubarak Ali Al Shamsi, Director-General of the Municipality, said that the cups could pose a health risk if hot beverages were drunk from them and officials have been visiting restaurants and cafes to tell them of the ban. Dubai enforced a similar ban last month.
