Sierra Leone is recovering after a brutal 10-year civil war that has left the country with no infrastructure to support the needs of the 15% of children left orphaned. With the end of the war, the future for Sierra Leone's children remains a bleak one. Sierra Leone has the world's highest child mortality rate, with one out of three children dying before the age of five. All As One (AAO) was founded in 1997 in an effort to ease the suffering of abandoned orphans in Africa, especially Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe.
"We are delighted to support a charity which undertakes such important work in some of the world's most grief-stricken areas. The sincere way in which All As One delivers genuine assistance to African orphans deserves all the support Dubai can give, so we're pleased to contribute our part in some small way,"
said David Thomson, General Manager Corporate Affairs of Jebel Ali International Hotels.
Matthew Morgan-Jones of All As One expressed his excitement for yet another successful charity dinner: "We are very grateful to Bateaux Dubai for hosting this event and look forward to raising the much needed funds that will ensure the long-term existence of the All As One orphanage in Sierra Leone. I am hoping the kind hearts of Dubai will share in my plight to save this orphanage and in turn, the dozens of children it saves from poverty, famine, the tragedy of war and almost certain death. By just booking one seat, it will enable a child to have a home and be cared for."
All As One currently implements several programmes such as a children's centre, medical clinic, school, monthly child sponsorship and assistance to destitute women and families. To find out more about how to donate to the All As One organisation, please visit their website on www.allasone.org
