- PRESS RELEASE
Summer training programmes for the UAE nationals at the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has been innovatively packaged this year, taking students through an effective mix of edutainment, leisure, social and Information Technology-driven training modules.
Adding a new dimension from the previous years, when the interns were assigned to different departments to hone their skills, this year three new training modules have been added to the programme to make it more interesting and effective.
"The training course has been designed creatively to offer students an overview of the working of the DTCM and to instill in them the basic practical and social skills that will be of help to them when they join the workforce," DTCM Manager Human Resources, Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot, said.
"The new dimensions to the training programme include social and leisure activities and IT training. In the first module, students will learn innovative strategies to deal with people with special needs and the travel and tourism facilities that they require," said Ms. Haneen Abubaker Ahmed, DTCM Executive Human Resources.
The students' acquired knowledge will come into use when they will be taken to a special needs institution to interact with the people and develop an insight into their needs.
As part of their social activities, the students will visit the Red Crescent Society and learn different aspects of charity and donation programmes so that they are sensitive to the needs of the poor and the needy in their interaction with them.
The IT-training module will include customer service, planning and analytical skills. The leisure activities will feature friendly football matches, cultural competitions and quizzes about UAE's heritage.
The interns will also be taken on a visit to one of the government departments which has won the Dubai Award for Government Excellence so as to understand the different criteria that a government department has to fulfill to achieve its objectives.
