Attendees will be able to enhance their knowledge and understanding of working within the broadcast arena.

'At Al Arabiya, we believe that the greatest asset for the future of the media industry as a whole is its human resources. Our ongoing training programmes demonstrate our commitment to elevate the standards of professionalism across the industry. This particular programme aims to bridge the gap of communication between academia and real world media. Progression in the Arab media is only possible if the new members of the industry are provided with adequate training'

said Abdul Rahman Al Rashed, General Manager, Al Arabiya Television.

The sessions, that commenced earlier this week, are being led by prominent media journalists from Al Arabiya TV who will help trainees optimize their performance at work and develop their broadcast media skills. The group of 24, attending the training programme, will have hands-on-experience with the state-of-the-art technology available at Al Arabiya TV.

'In order to achieve advancement in the Arab media industry, it is important for members of the sector to actively participate in training and developing the young graduates instead of head-hunting talent from competitors. Al Arabiya as a channel regards training as a long-term investment and aims to take all measures to secure the future of the industry' added Al Rashed.

Furthermore, the channel will host the first-ever broadcast forum in the Middle East that brings together students, media professionals and educationalists to examine the challenges faced by the media industry. The event entitled: 'The Challenges: Academia and Media', will take place on 21 June at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Dubai, UAE.

The aim of the forum is to build and strengthen the relationship between academics and media professionals. Interactive debates will analyze the differences between the education in the region for the media sector and the practicalities of working in the field. Leading regional experts will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practice by debating on these issues.
