Major Omar Al Shamsi, Head of the Organising Committee of the Arts Surprises week, said the participation of the DNRD in the DSS is in line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Al Shamshi highlighted the importance of collaborative work and collective efforts by Government departments and private institutions to push ahead with the wheel of development in Dubai.
"The DNRD has proved its vital presence in the emirate's key events. We have represented Dubai in its annual participation in the Dubai Shopping Festival, Dubai - the City that Cares promotion, and the much-awaited DSS event along with organising some seasonal events locally as well as abroad. DNRD participates in DSS for the sixth year in a row this time round and is all set to make the themed week very special,"
Al Shamsi said.
The department has lined up a number of exciting and entertaining events for the Arts Surprises week," said Al Shamsi adding, "We consciously selected the events that suit visitors of all age groups while focusing on bringing out potential talents in all art fields and encouraging talented people to create and innovate more."
"The DNRD aims to project Dubai's civilised image through its warm welcome and generous hospitality to all its visitors who come to the emirate from all over the world," said Al Shamsi.
"Our continuous participation in the DSS over the past several years has given us the experience and know-how to constantly innovate and introduce new ideas to enthrall one and all. Our activities are aimed at stimulating all faculties of the mind and aim at different age-groups," he added.
The 10-week long DSS, which opens with the Ice Surprises week on June 21, will continue with the weekly themes, including International Food Surprises, Adventure Surprises, Cartoon Surprises, Nature Surprises, Arts Surprises, Knowledge Surprises, Flower Surprises, Heritage Surprises, and concludes with Back-to-School Surprises on September 1.
