Bahrain Internet Society organizes 'FutureIT 2006' exhibition and conference

Under the patronage of H.H Shaikh Ahmed bin Attiyallah Al Khalifa, minister of cabinet affairs and the president of Central Information Organization, marks the launching of the 'FutureIT 2006' exhibition and conference for the fourth consecutive year, after the success achieved in the last years which represent a response to the high demand at local and regional levels for IT solutions.

The Future IT 2006 exhibition and conference represent a remarkable event in the field of IT community in the Kingdom of Bahrain in order to cover all the important subjects and issues related to IT and telecom. It also shows the variety of approaching the subjects and how to deal with it, the way of discussion, focusing at the top of that on bringing about international experts in this field, along with the local and regional expertise to discuss the latest information in IT and telecom and to answer the frequent questions: what's new and way of application, what are the benefits of usage in different fields.

The conference will be opened by Shaikh Ahmed bin Attiytallah Al Khalifa, minister of cabinet affairs and the president of Central Information Organization, then the speech of BIS will be delivered by Mr. Ahmed Attiyatallah Alhujairi. He will talk about the society's plans and efforts to develop understanding and awareness of the role of IT in the new communities and the importance of updating with new technology in the IT field issues. Then, Mr. Charbel Fakhoury the General Manager of Microsoft regional office (Gulf Area) will talk about the importance of IT conferences and need for which especially those that are catering for the regional.

In its new edition, the exhibition and conference of FutureIT 2006 will have different perspectives to last year, but in the same path, same focus and same goals which have been sought by the conference from its very start. On the theory side, the conference will allocate wide space to discuss working papers in two days in a row, the expertise will present the conclusion of their research in subjects related to e-government, e-security, managing IT, e-business, telecom technology and some other subjects related to IT and telecom. On the practical side, the conference dedicated a full day for the challenges facing the business sector and how to curb them. In two special workshops, it will handle the management of IT projects and IT security. In the meantime in the sidelines of the conference there will be an exhibition of the latest tech products and telecom and IT by a band of participants.

The 2-day conference is divided into many sessions to cover the important issues and to make things easy for people who want to get maximum benefit. On the first day, two sessions will be held. The first will have Shaikh Abdullah Al Khalifa the General Manager of Light Speed Company to speak about how to approach one another in the e-business domain. Then Dr. Murad Mansoor associate professor at King Fahad University\Saudi Arabia will talk about the e-business in the KSA. After that, Dr. Abdulqader Daqfoos, associate professor at the American University in Sharja\ UAE will speak about building knowledge and ability assessment in business strategy. The session ends with Mr. Abdullah Arfaj from Aramco\ KSA who speaks about the new view of the e-government. The second session will be about IT security, which starts with Mr. Jedeon Van Zeil from HP Middle East as a main speaker handling 'solutions for managing IT'. Hereinafter Mr. Hussam Qasim, the technical manager in Computer Associates will talk about the IT security in the IT domain. The second day witnesses the end of the session by Mr. David Mishokis, CEO of ScanIt talking about the growing pain of computers attackers (Hackers) and presenting a live show of a hacking operation. After each session there will be an open discussion of the subject handled in the session.

The third session will start on the second day with the theme of 'telecom technology'. It will be opened by Mr. Ahmed Alhujairi the General Manager of Gulf Gateway company, who will speak about using the internet in the GCC. Then Mr. Ashraf Shokri senior manager of technology in Bahrain Islamic Bank talks about the smart card as a key player in Islamic banking. Hereinafter Mr. Rashid Senan CEO of Etisalcom will talk about the competitive advantage in the telecom sector. The last speaker will be Mr. Mahmoud Sabri, the development manager of Intel Company, who will talk about wireless telecom projects (wireless city).

The fourth session, titled 'e-government', will be opened by Mr. Mahmood Al Amer, the assistant deputy in the central information organization in the kingdom of Bahrain as a star speaker. Then Mr. Waleed Jumma, the regional marketing manager in GBM company takes the stage to speak about the service design in e-government. Mr. Abdullah Al Hamed, the e-business and IT manager in the ministry of industry and commerce in the kingdom of Bahrain, is to speak about the role of e-business in e-government. The last speaker in the session will be Mr. Ghassan Mutayrek, Microsoft office/Bahrain, who speaks about the linked government work.

The third and last session on the second day will be under the title of 'managing IT' and opened by Dr. Osama Al Baharna, associate professor in Bahrain University as a main speaker about the commercial information (theory and practice). Then Mr. Mahmood Alojaimi, marketing manager of Oracle-Middle East and Africa will speak about quality in service design. The last speaker for this session and the whole conference will be Ashraf Helmi from HP Middle East who will speak about 'information life cycle management'. An open discussion will be held after each session.
