The shipment comprised 816 pieces, weighing a total of 29.5 tonnes and was flown from Dubai to Islamabad at the beginning of October on a charter flight using the one of the airline's Boeing 777-200 passenger aircraft on a cargo-only mission.

Pradeep Kumar, Emirates' General Manager Cargo Optimisation, said: "This is the biggest shipment booked through Skychain so far and emphasises the value of the system. The efficiency gains that SkyChain offers the customer mean that he gets both convenience and excellent value for money."

He added: "This booking and the recent increase in the use of SkyChain prove that e-commerce is here to stay and is being increasingly embraced by the customer."
