Dun & Bradstreet Knowledge Forum on BASEL II and Risk Management Solutions

Dun & Bradstreet, focusing on the emerging trends in the banking and financial services sector worldwide, conducted its Knowledge Forum on the 15th of June, 2006 in Dubai.

As a part of the series of these events which D&B has been conducting in region since last year on BASEL II and Risk Management Solutions, this event was attended by 20 Managing Directors from the private commercial banks of Bangladesh.

In today's credit driven market, the importance of diligent credit risk management and assessment cannot be overstated. The exponential growth in retail credit offerings by banks has been accompanied by greater exposure to risks. Reducing turn around time for loan approvals is crucial and so is insuring consistent and unbiased decision making.

Consequently, the onus of meeting Capital adequacy requirements of the 'Basel II Accord' also falls on the banks. In addition to adhering to its compliance issues, it is important to retain and expand one's customer base as well as track the validity and performance of statistical models. Banks thus require automated, flexible and scalable analytics to manage credit risk while facilitating expansion in a competitive market.
