Etihad Crystal Cargo conducts "Dangerous Goods" training
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, June 20 - 2006 at 14:30
- PRESS RELEASE
Etihad Crystal Cargo, the cargo division of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has been conducting extensive training for Abu Dhabi International Airport-based Customs Officers in the field of Dangerous Goods.
"These days it is vital for an airline such as Etihad to pay extra attention to enhancing the security of cargo and supply chain systems. With the UAE constantly growing as a global trading hub, our aim is to ensure maximum safety and security in the handling of all goods," said Ingo Roessler, Vice President Cargo, Etihad Airways.
The course was conducted by Paul King, Etihad's Dangerous Goods Liaison and Cargo Quality Assurance Manager, who has a wealth of experience from his previous position as a former IATA Dangerous Goods Training Task Force Member and Instructor.
Mr King lectured the attendees on identification, documentation, personal safety, necessary actions and precautions in order to ensure a safe inspection of cargo consignments at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
At the end of the training, certificates were presented to all participants for their successful attendance of the course.
"Regular training is an essential element of the quality of Etihad's cargo product. Dangerous Goods is an extremely sensitive topic which needs constant updates and training for all partners involved," added Roessler.
Etihad Crystal Cargo is working closely with its partners along the supply chain in order to ensure maximum safety and quality of its cargo product.
Currently, Etihad Crystal Cargo and its Handling Agent at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Abu Dhabi Airport Services (ADAS), are preparing the introduction of a common IT platform, adding another key component to Etihad's promise of Ultimate Information Transparency.
