- PRESS RELEASE
Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei") has announced its mobile softswitch subscribers exceeded 100 million users, cementing its leadership in the softswitch industry.
In 2004, Huawei deployed the world's largest mobile softswitch network based on IP transmission, for China Mobile, with the entire capacity surpassing 250 thousand E1 ports. The stable network ensures smooth operations throughout the peak traffic periods. This year, Huawei's GSM Mobile Softswitch system deployed for Saudi Telecom Company ("STC") successfully sustained the peak traffic during the on Hajj period, further demonstrating the excellent performance of the network. The company was also awarded the "2005 Highest Development Achievement" by STC.
'With our mobile softswitch now serving more than 100 million subscribers, it shows that global operators have recognized its superior features and advantages. Huawei is making significant progress in the wireless field by adopting its global development strategy which is driven by the customers needs," said Wang Jiading, vice president, Huawei Technologies Middle East and North Africa region.
The large-scale commercial deployment proves that mobile softswitch technologies will be the focus of future core network construction. Compared to the conventional core network, mobile softswitch scores in terms of capacity, strong processing capability, and stable operation. Moreover, the distributed architecture based on IP transmission can help operators refine their network construction, speed up network deployment, reduce the cost of construction and reduce operation expenditure.
Mobile softswitch allows the smooth evolution to IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS solutions), and will co-exist with the IMS technology. Mobile softswitch shares the benefits of IP telephony in terms of quality of service, security, reliability, and large-scale networking with IMS. Mobile softswitch and IMS also share the value-added service platform to ensure operators' long-term return on network investment.
