The launch of the second phase propels Dubai to the destination of choice for world class healthcare services. The new phase which covers a total area of 19 million square feet and a total investment of AED 4 billion is located on the shores of the Dubai Creek next to Al Wasl Hospital on Oud Metha Road.
Saeed Al Muntafiq, Chief Executive Officer, Tatweer, said: 'When we look at healthcare, it is important to look at it in a holistic sense since the human being is a construction of the body and mind. To enjoy good health we should take care of our body and reach a balance between these two components.'
In this respect, Dubai Healthcare City is reinforcing new standards in healthcare that go beyond pure medicine and acute care services, which include disease treatment and prevention. The second phase of DHCC will include the elements of world-class wellness facilities, in addition to hospitals, clinical centers, institutions and a residential complex.
The aim of the new phase of Healthcare City is to provide a complete suite of wellbeing services to complement the acute care available in the first phase of the development. The work of the two phases complements one another in line with the strategic vision of DHCC to establish an integrated center, as per the international standards of healthcare.
Ahmad Sharaf, Senior Vice President for Energy and Healthcare for Tatweer emphasized that the main goal for the city is to provide patients in the region with an opportunity to live a balanced life, away from anxiety, trauma and various diseases. The healthcare facilities and services provided in the second phase will bridge the gap between physical health in its conventional sense and general health in its global context.
Zone Overview
The second phase of DHCC will be divided into 6 zones that include Clinical Zone, Healthcare Mixed Use, Long Term Care, Spa Resorts, Canal Residence & Town Center and Clinical Villas, with luxury 5-star hotels providing hospitality services to the overall development.
Spa Resorts is an integral part of Phase II, and caters to the 'wellness' aspect of DHCC. The luxury spa resorts will be located along the extended Creek, and will be managed by globally-renowned specialist spa resort operators.
The Clinical Zone will house hospitals, outpatient clinics, luxury 5-star hotel and post graduate healthcare higher education programs like nursing, dentistry, nutrition and physiotherapy.
Phase II will also include a Healthcare Mixed Use zone that provides facilities to non-clinical services such as medical equipment companies, insurance firms, pharmaceutical companies, complementary and alternative medicine suppliers.
The Long Term Care is dedicated to the development of facilities to serve patients requiring healthcare attention for extended periods of time. This zone will house nursing homes, post-trauma rehabilitation centers, and terminally-ill medical care facilities.
DHCC Phase II is also offering two-storey Clinical Villas that are available on a lease basis. The villas will accommodate conventional and complementary medicine clinics equipped with high-tech IT provisions.
The outpatient clinics are built based on the highest international standards to provide expert treatments in different medical specialties, as well as a center for daily surgeries.
Canal Residence & Town Center, the waterfront residential properties of Phase II, are expected to primarily accommodate medical students and faculty from DHCC. Retail and food outlets will be located on the ground floor of the residences.
