ictQATAR tributes Independent Schools participating in the first phase of Knowledge Net

ictQATAR marked the end of the first phase of Schools knowledge Net by honouring Independent Schools teachers, IT managers and administrators who participated in the project implementation, which began in eight schools last February.

The Knowledge-Net Project is one ictQATAR's e-Education initiative. It entails the implementation of learning management systems to enhance the teaching and learning process. The teacher training, which was conducted at early stage of the project made the first step to empowering teachers in integrating ICT in education.

The School Knowledge-Net focuses on promoting the development of educational content, portals, applications and knowledge bases. It also facilitates the integration of ICT tools into education through; enhancing teaching activities, improving the learning experience, facilitating the administration's Intervention.

For this phase ictQATAR utilized Microsoft Learning Gateway and Blackboard. These learning management systems provided provide the essential tools for both students and teachers to enhance communication, expand resources, develop teaching, and administer. Educational expert were recruited to provide teachers with the necessary training to integrate ICT into their classroom.

The Knowledge-Net Project is a platform for designing an overall approach for integrating ICT into education. Moreover, It materializes the partnership between ictQATAR and eight independent schools;

Al-Resalah Independent Secondary School for Girls
Doha Independent Secondary School for Boys
Amna Bint Wahab Independent Secondary School
Al-Wakra Independent Secondary School
Al-Wakra Preparatory Independent School for Girls
Omar Bin Al-Khattab Preparatory Independent School for Boys
Al-Wajba Preparatory Independent School for Girls
Muaither Preparatory Independent School for Girls

"This project is indicative of the extremely important partnership that exists between ictQATAR and our schools", said Dr. Mohamed E. Al-Ansari, Manager of e-Education Department at ictQATAR. "The importance of this partnership lies in its focus on the development of learning through the application of ICT within education in Qatar."

The next phase of Knowledge Net is to rollout the solution to more Independent Schools. It will also involve enabling parents to use the Knowledge Net to monitor their children's progress, communicate with teachers, and contribute to the learning process anytime and anywhere.

"This step marks the first significant measure towards empowering parents and creating actual and ongoing partnership between teachers and parents" said Dr. Mohamed Al-Ansari.

ictQATAR is working with International vendors from Singapore and UK to provide interactive e-Content that tailors the Qatari Curriculum Standards.

Dr. Al-Ansari emphasized the significance of this step and described it as a "critical step towards diversifying learning resources and allowing anytime, anywhere education."

He emphasized, "the e-content is not a mere digitalization of textbooks; rather, it's providing learning content that affords better understanding through reasoning and problem solving."

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the most active teachers. During the event teachers and ictQATAR officials exchanged thoughts about the project; challenges and opportunities.
