"The Internet is evolving from a repository for documents to a transaction-based service environment, driven by innovation and speed, to pay bills, chat with friends, purchase music, watch TV and so on. Motorola is working with service providers to capitalize on the Internet's responsive and pioneering culture to deliver a new range of services and encourage community-based applications that stimulate loyalty. The power of the Internet can also be harnessed to stimulate usage of mobile services and increase customer loyalty through offering new applications on an ongoing basis,"
said Motorola's Saleh.
As part of his presentation, Saleh discussed several ways that telecoms operators can improve the experience for subscribers in the Middle East, and highlighted the potential of 'mash-ups' - combining existing applications, such as blogging and photo, to create new ones, quickly and efficiently.
"Telecoms operators in the region will miss out on both a customer service and a revenue opportunity if they don't deploy new applications that bring more context to communications - understanding users' preferences, habits, and relationships to create a more rich and 'sticky' offering that helps build customer loyalty in this competitive regional environment," he added.
