Reporting directly to Mohammed Amin, general manager for EMC Middle East, Gharaibeh's new role will involve driving the company's strategy and execution in the commercial sector within the Gulf and Levant region, and providing enhanced levels of customer service by leveraging the newly appointed sales team under his leadership. Gharaibeh will also work with EMC's regional channel partner in order to establish a consistent revenue stream from the commercial sector.

Most recently, Gharaibeh was channel sales manager at EMC Middle East, managing the company's channel strategy and development. For more than four years, he played a crucial role in successfully raising the profile of EMC and strengthening its presence with the channel community across the region. As the new sales director, Gharaibeh will leverage his experience to enhance EMC's visibility to customers as well as partners in growth markets such as Kuwait and Qatar.

Commenting on the appointment, Amin, said, "Qais Gharaibeh's contribution to EMC's growth in the MENA region has been outstanding. He has been instrumental in establishing a strong network of channel partners for EMC in his previous role."

"With his sharp business acumen and leadership skills, EMC will generate more business leads and refine our sales focus across the Gulf and Levant markets," Amin added.

In recent months, the Middle East has seen a steady increase in the number of companies migrating to more secure, cost-effective and consolidated IT storage systems. Both large and small businesses are increasingly interested in the role of information life cycle management (ILM) in managing the entire data cycle from its creation to disposal. In addition to the above role, Gharaibeh and his sales team for the commercial sector will also be involved in assisting customers' transition to ILM and its integration with overall business objectives.

A key area for EMC in 2006 will be communicating EMC's 'making storage simple' approach for small and medium business (SMB) in the Gulf and Levant region. This encompasses a wide range of innovative software and services, designed to help the growing regional SMB market address the major challenges of explosive information growth and spiraling costs by effectively storing, backing up, archiving and protecting their critical application data.
