Mr. Ghassan Ejjeh, Director, ASPCL said, "We are proud to announce that the project is on fast track. The accelerated construction programme is aiming to complete all facilities of the project by the end of 2008. Once completed the project owners in the emirate will directly benefit from the development of the modern sewerage system."
He further added,
"The new system will minimise risks to health and the environment. The recycled water will be used to increase the greenery of Ajman, and in the long run, will develop the economy of the emirate and lay the foundations for future inward investment and prosperity."
The program of the first connections will be published after Summer. However, it is expected that Al Naemiyah and New Industrial Area will be connected first.
At the present time, 30% of the works of the Force Main and 20% of the works of the gravity Lines have already been completed. At the two main Pumping Stations (5 and 12), 95% of Civil works were completed and 35% of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation Controls Automation (MEICA) were also completed. At the minor Pumping Stations, Civil works has commenced in 5 of the 20 Pumping Stations.
At the Treatment Plant, 75% of Civil work and 35% of Mechanical and Electrical works were already completed.
The construction of the network of pipes is now on going in Al Jurf, Al Hamidiya, New Industrial Area, Old Industrial Area, Al Nuamiya, Al Siwan, Al Rachidiya and Al Rumaila.
The treatment plant, in its initial phase, has been designed to handle up to 49,000 cubic metres of waste per day.
