The pioneering manufacturing and industry investor unveiled details of the key elements of its strategy - industrial zones, capital intensive projects and dedicated research facilities - to an audience that included the top global, regional and local financial institutions.

Dr. Ahmed Khayyat, EII's Chief Executive, told the group of bankers: "Emaar Industries and Investments offers genuine scope to change the nature of economic activity in this region.

"It offers a mechanism for funneling the region's capital liquidity into productive activity. It offers opportunity for investors and businesses alike."

EII is making rapid strides as it bids to become one of the main catalysts for industrial development in the region. It now has more than $1 billion of deals in the pipeline and investments in companies that stretch from the region to China.

Dr. Khayyat added: "Emaar Properties has demonstrated in a way that could not have been imagined a decade ago just how much can be achieved and how quickly with the assets we have. Emaar Industries and Investments faces a challenge - and an opportunity - to replicate the success of its parent in a different sector.

"Industry and the new clean technologies have opened a doorway. Emaar Industries and Investments - through its new divisions focused on industrial cities and zones, long term capital intensive projects, and dedicated research - has taken the first steps through that doorway."
