Tejari CEO delivers wake-up call to U.S. Business - "Dubai Transforming into Global Powerhouse"
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, July 04 - 2006 at 12:56
- PRESS RELEASE
CEOs and senior executives from leading US companies received firsthand insight into the UAE's untapped business and investment prospects during a recent presentation by Omar Hijazi, CEO of Tejari, the Middle East's online marketplace.
Every year GMA Executive Conference brings together top executives and authorities from the food, beverage and consumer products industry to discuss and address challenges and issues faced by organizations, consumers and nation at large. Alan Greenspan, former chairman, Federal Reserve and Tom Brokaw, NBC special correspondent, were some of the eminent speakers at this year's GMA event.
Commenting on the conference, Tejari's Hijazi said, "Dubai is becoming a global powerhouse across all dimensions of business and trade. One of the things that make Dubai so compelling is the government's corporate approach to processes and functions. There is a determination from the top to increase the speed of business, cut through bureaucracy and red tape, and deliver to a world-class standard, all of which are comforting for US businesses that are attracted by the growth potential here."
"Foreign investment is the key for long-term viability, and as someone who joined Tejari from a US corporation, I'm convinced that more American decision-makers need to be made aware of the commercial opportunities that exist in Dubai and the larger UAE market," he added.
Discussing the fast-paced development taking place in the UAE's real estate, construction, retail and technology sectors, Hijazi called for US companies to exploit and optimize the commercial opportunities and the liberal regulatory environment that govern this country. Dubai is fast turning into a lucrative market for foreign direct investment (FDI). Dubai is going through an investment and construction boom that exceeds that of its 1970's oil wealth discovery.
Demonstrating the continued growth of e-commerce in the region, Hijazi also shared H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision of transforming Dubai into a knowledge economy by the launch of mylinkDubai.com, an innovative service through the Dubai Economic Department that assists companies in knowing more potential partners and doing more business through the Internet.
Celebrating it sixth anniversary this month, Tejari has been instrumental in building awareness and acceptance of the benefits and scope of e-commerce in the Middle East region.
The region's premier online marketplace is now aggressively targeting new franchises in territories across the broader Middle East, Africa, and the Asian Subcontinent region.
