Summer Surprises participation at Children's City overwhelming

The summer activities at the Children's City, organized as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises 2006 has been receiving tremendous response from the children folk.
Makiya Al Hajiri, Head of Children's City said that more fun and activities were being organized for children during this week's Art Surprises that is being held during 29 June to 5 July. The activities during this week include face painting, making music instrument using juice straws, making wedding dresses in different styles, shirt painting, acrylic art and mass birthday celebrations.
She said those children whose birthdays fall between June and August 2006 can participate in the Mass Birthday Celebrations. Al Hajiri said that invitations have been thrown out to families and visitors of DSS for these ceremonies. "It is the best opportunity for the families to celebrate their children's birthdays with a lot of people and fanfare," she said.
"Imbibing strength from the successful conduct of Mass Birthday Celebrations during the previous years, the Children's City has planned many new interesting programmes enjoyable for children, including contests, games and skits," Al Hajiri said.
She said many surprises are awaiting children during this occasion, including gifts and prizes. "Special birthday cakes will be prepared for the parties in distinctive shapes and designs. In addition to this, the Children's City cartoon character Murshid will pick up one of the birthday children as the lucky child and will also take group photographs," Al Hajiri said.
Children will also be able to attend educational and recreation workshops. Entry will be free for the children who celebrate their birthdays and two of their relatives. Birthday celebrations are restricted for children in the age group of 3-12 years. Copies of the child's passport or birth certificate should be produced for registration.
In the meanwhile many organizations that have something to do with children have come forward to cooperate with the Children's City for the success of the activities during the Art Surprises. They supported in conducting workshops on summer food safety and safety of children's toys.
The organizations that supported the activities include Emirates Authority for Metrology and Standardization, Kellogg's, Co-op Islami and Mr. Baker.
The Children's City is also organizing this year's summer camp with the cooperation of Kellogg's, which started from June 24 and will last until August 30 from 8am to 1pm from Saturday to Wednesday for children in the age group of 7to12. The camp includes many activities such as trips, music classes, computer games and live shows.
