Dubai Q1 room rates up 19%

Dubai hotels' room rates averaged $194 per day in Q1 2006, up 19% from the same period in 2005, according to government figures cited by Emirates Today. Occupancy rates were up 8% to 89%. Industry experts say Dubai hotels have increased room rates by up to 50% for the Dubai Summer Surprises shopping and entertainment festival.
