  • PRESS RELEASE

The Market at Green Community completed its second week of a 10-week series of themed DSS events running from Thursday to Saturday of each week with the Art Surprises week.

A clown show with games, a mask show, and a rhythmic juggling show with magic tricks all proved to be huge hits with children and adults alike. Visitors also enjoyed a wide range of craft workshops. These included colouring, painting and moulding, decorating a horse moulding with 'pearl mosaic' beads, painting your own photo frames and creating your own mosaic.

"My kids would stay all day if they could," comments Jane Thomas, Green Community resident, "they loved all the activities, particularly the clown show and mask painting.'

The previous week's event that kicked off DSS at The Market was Ice Surprises. In keeping with the theme, visitors were treated to an ice-cream eating competition, water relay games and an ice sculpture display. Meet and Greet the Snowman also offered a photo opportunity for the kids.

The festivities were broadcast live on Channel 4, and visitors had the chance to win loads of valuable gift vouchers offered by various retailers at The Market, including Video Land, Pastamania, Collectors World, Choithrams, Marriott, Hair Lounge and Ladybird.

Friday the 14th of July will once again see visitors getting many chances to win exciting prizes, and all they have to do is turn up and answer a few simple questions posed by DJ Matt.

DSS at The Market will continue with Food Surprises running from 5th to 12th of July, where the various workshops will include short bread and play dough moulding, plate painting, and fruit and vegetable carving. For those with the 'stomach' for it, there will also be a fastest eating contest.

'The turnout up until now has certainly been beyond our expectations,' says Lynda Soppelsa, Property Manager of Green Community, who manages The Market. 'We've got a great line up of themes right through until September, and judging by what we've seen so far in the number of visitors, it's going to be a great summer' she added.

Over the coming weeks, visitors to The Market will be able to enjoy a host of themes, including Adventure Surprises, Cartoon Surprises and Nature Surprises during July, and Knowledge Surprises, Flower Surprises, Heritage Surprises and Back to School Surprises during August.
