Currently DUBAL's exports to Asia amount to 450,000 tonnes, almost 40% of its total production. DUBAL's sales to South Korea alone stand at around 55,000 tonnes in 2006 against 45,000 tonnes in 2005.
The DUBAL move is in line with the aluminium giant's strategic initiative to expand its high quality services overseas as approved by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister for Finance and Industry and Chairman of DUBAL.
'Asian countries being our largest consumers, this is a natural evolution to the next level of our growth strategy. This will provide us the maximum leeway in ensuring our clients get the highest level of quality service besides enabling us to fully understand their requirements,' said Mr. Abdulla Bin Kalban, CEO,DUBAL.
'Since 1994 DUBAL had been working in Asia with dedicated agents who had played an excellent role in ensuring our reputation throughout the continent, especially in South Korea. This was when our total capacity was around 250,000 tonnes per annum. Now with our expansion plans which will raise capacity to more than 1,000,000 tonnes per annum, we feel it is necessary to have a full-fledged office focusing on specific markets with growth potential,' added Mr. Bin Kalban.
The fully dedicated office in Seoul is expected to help DUBAL continuously improve its highest levels of service to customers in Korea and create better awareness of DUBAL's products in the markets.
The aluminium giant's export ratio to Asian region is the highest among the four regions of Asia, Europe, Americas and the Middle East.
'Our Seoul office will pave way for further growth in Asia and will help us to better position DUBAL in the Asia-Pacific region,' pointed out Mr. Bin Kalban
