MessageLabs started using Cognos enterprise planning solution and Cognos business intelligence reporting in June 2005, and joined the beta programme for Cognos 8 BI later that year. After seeing the benefits demonstrated through the beta programme, including a single consolidated platform, superior charting, and portal integration, MessageLabs upgraded to Cognos 8 BI in March 2006.
"MessageLabs is committed to providing superior customer service and value, through market leading Web, e-mail, and IM security capabilities, and reacting quickly to customers' changing requirements," said Adrian Bignall, VP, development and integration at MessageLabs. "Standardising on Cognos 8 BI, which will scale as the company expands, for our reporting and analysis needs will assist in achieving our goals. The evolution of the Cognos product suite has met our needs perfectly, allowing us to manage performance and drive efficiency."
Cognos reporting solutions additionally support the MessageLabs Client and Partner portal. This portal provides customers and partners with data analysis, reporting, support and news. Cognos 8 BI is also planned to be rolled out externally through the portal to enhance reporting for MessageLabs' 14,000 customers, providing a richer interface and further on-demand reporting enhancements. These sophisticated reports will assist IT directors in providing senior management with added insights into corporate e-mail usage and productivity.
"MessageLabs has identified the benefits of giving all employees access to crucial and relevant data," said David Brierley, regional manager, Cognos Middle East and Africa.
"Decision-makers at all levels are now empowered to make informed decisions based on one source of up-to-date information. Business intelligence is no longer restricted to senior management."
