Foetal ECG device in Sharjah

A Sharjah based medical team has invented a device to monitor an unborn baby's electrical heart pattern without the need for an invasive procedure, reported Emirates Today. The device is an adaptation of an ECG machine and, according to Dr Janaki Gopalan of Dubai's Welcare Hospital, it can help detect foetal hypoxia, a condition that comes on when a baby is deprived of oxygen and can lead to cerebral palsy.
