Cinnabon fun for everyone
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, July 09 - 2006 at 15:06
- PRESS RELEASE
As part of the Food Surprises week, organised by DTCM from July 6-12, Cinnabon stores have organised a competition for baking their world-famous buns.
Marwan Kandeel, the supervisor of the baking competition, said, "This event has attracted a large audience, specially children of all nationalities wanting to learn how to bake their favourite Cinnabons. We can sense their happiness every step of the way: from preparing the ingredients for the dough, to adding the butter, then twisting it just like the professionals, cutting it and then the baking."
Speaking about the objective of the competition, he said, "The aim behind this competition is to make the children and grown-ups happy, and to teach them how to bake these lovely buns. We also noticed that a large number of ladies who visit our outlets ask us the secret behind our Cinnabons that their kids love, so we decided to organise an event on their behalf."
According to the rules of the competition, 10 children will be chosen to wear the chef's uniform, complete with hat and an apron from Cinnabon. They are taught how to make Cinnabons, and at the end, the three best baked buns which most closely resemble the original bun are chosen as winners.
Winners receive valuable prizes, including free passes to Ski Dubai, and free coupons that can be redeemed at Cinnabon throughout the UAE. The competition will take place daily during Food Surprises week, from 6pm to 10pm.
The DTCM-organised Food Surprises has more than 300 different culinary events including international food carnivals, food plays, live cookery shows, baking of international cakes, food art, carving and garnishing etc. About Dh 5 million have been spent on the organisation of Food Surprises.
Mr. Marwan bin Beyat, Chairman of the DSS Food Surprises Committee and DTCM Manager Events, said, "The DTCM has exciting treats in store for adults and children whose appetite will be whetted by the varied taste of international cuisine during the Food Surprises week."
Five shopping malls including Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Batuta Mall, BurJuman, Mercato and Deira City Centre and 42 hotels in the four star and five star categories will join in the activities of the Food Surprises week.
A team from the Food Surprises Committee will be visiting children from orphanages and taking them to the Modhesh Fun City so that they can be a part of the fun lined up for children during DSS. Similar visits have also been planned for young thalassemia patients.
The 10-week long DSS, which opened with Ice Surprises week on June 21, celebrated the Arts Surprises Week and continues with the weekly themes of International Food Surprises, Adventure Surprises, Cartoon Surprises, Nature Surprises, Knowledge Surprises, Flower Surprises, Heritage Surprises and will conclude with Back-to-School Surprises on September 1.
