Mall of the Emirates places Food Surprises on the menu

Over a hundred of Dubai's top chefs featured in the Mall of the Emirates, hosted an opening ceremony for the week-long Food Surprises, a gourmet festival held as part of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).

The event, which runs in the Mall until July 12, showcases food and drink from around the world. Visitors will be able to sample the product of a vast array of cooking styles, and will be impressed by the giant chocolate displays, ice carvings, traditional Thai sweets, amongst other activities.

The Food Surprises week is being held at the Mall in partnership with the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

Fuad Sharaf, Mall of the Emirates' new General Manager said: "We're delighted to be part of the 2006 Food Surprises week. The Mall is a popular destination for lovers of food who can visit our 75 restaurants, cafes and food court outlets. The array of activities for children and adults makes Mall of the Emirates a must-visit destination during Food Surprises."

The main events to look out for during Food Surprise week include:

Ice carving - 6th - 12th July, from 6 - 10pm

Kids Stage Show - 6th - 12th July, 3 shows daily between 6 - 10pm

Live cooking demonstrations in purpose built kitchen in the Galleria of the mall - 6th - 12th July, from 6 - 10pm

Nestle Giant Chocolate Display - 6th - 12th July, from 6 - 10pm

Cinnabon Fun (kids can make cinnabon cakes) - 6th - 12th July, from 6.00pm - 10pm

Betterlife Cooking Competition and European Food Showcase - 6th - 12th July, from 6 - 10pm

Food Carnival - 8th July from 6 - 10pm

Asian Food Showcase in association with Nestle - 7th July 6 - 10pm.
