The three month long internship, which received 750 applications from more than 60 countries, provides 26 international students with exposure to Dubai Holding's high-profile projects and related career opportunities.
Postgraduate students from Harvard University, London School of Economics (LSE), London Business School (LBS), INSEAD, Columbia University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Schulich Business School, Wharton Business School and Johns Hopkins University were selected for the coveted internship programme.
Senior executives and decision makers within Dubai Holding's key businesses, including Jumeirah Group, Dubailand, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Energy, Dubai Industrial City, Tatweer and Bawadi, will familiarise students with the Dubai Holding brand during the training sessions.
Fadel Al Ali, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Holding, stated, 'Building on our success in 2005, we have expanded the DGIP from just 12 interns to 26 in 2006. This has enabled the participation of a wider range of the world's top talent and emerging leaders. In the future, we hope to continue developing partnerships with the world's best universities including those in China and India.'
'By reaching out and welcoming their young leaders into Dubai's future, we will strengthen international relations with the world's key economic centres and continue the success of the internship program,' added Fadel Al Ali.
Jessica Gubbins, a post-graduate student of Comparative Politics at the London School of Economics said, 'DGIP creates a unique opportunity to learn about a fascinating culture, and to be part of a dynamic commercial centre. Dubai offers an exciting potential for personal and professional growth. We look forward to working here.'
The DGIP application to position ratio ranks the programme as one of the most competitive in the world.
