Arab Business Council announces its new Executive Committee

The Arab Business Council (ABC), an initiative of the World Economic Forum, recently announced its new Executive Committee.

The ABC is composed of 80 Arab business leaders from 15 countries. Its mission is to facilitate constructive cooperation between leading companies, business institutions and corporate leaders in the Arab world to help equip their societies to compete effectively in the global economy and contribute to the development of an equitable regional and global society. In its fourth year of existence the Council has become firmly established as an effective representative of the Arab business community.

It works closely with regional government as well as those from G8 countries, India and China, as well as international organization, on policy reform issues with the goal to improve education, investment in the region and cultural exchange. The Executive Committee of the Arab Business Council is responsible for the development, oversight and guidance of all Arab Business Council activities. The Executive Committee officially assumed its two-year term on 3 July 2006, and includes:

- Shafik Gabr, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Artoc Group for Investment & Development, Egypt (ABC Executive Committee Chairman)

- Hassan Abdalla, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Arab African International Bank, Egypt

- Mazen S. Darwazeh, Chairman, Hikma Pharmaceuticals, Jordan

Bassim Jaď Hokimi, President, Atlamed, Morocco

-Mohamed Ali Mabrouk, Chairman, Exis Group, Tunisia

-Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nehayan, Chairman, Bin Zayed Group, United Arab Emirates

-Khalid Abdulla-Janahi, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Shamil Bank of Bahrain, Bahrain

- Abdallah E. Dabbagh, President and Chief Executive Officer, Saudi Arabian Mining Company "Ma'aden", Saudi Arabia

-Fahed Al Rashed, Chairman, National Technology Enterprise Company (NTEC), Kuwait.
