Japan-France JV $1.6bn gas deal

A joint venture between Japan's Chiyoda Corp and France's Technip has won a $1.6bn construction contract for onshore works in the second stage of the Al Khaleej Gas project in Qatar, according to Reuters. J Ray McDermott, QP and Exxon Mobils said they won the offshore contract, and put the value of investment in the whole project at $3bn. AKG-2 will develop 1.58m cubic feet per day of North Field gas.
