Organised by IIR Middle East, the show is scheduled to take place at the Airport Expo Dubai from September 21 to September 23, 2006.

'The multifaceted new generation marketing platform will underscore the tremendous growth the region has achieved in terms of the retail industry and the fashion and textiles sector,' said Adam Taylor, Event Manager of Fusion. 'Middle East retail developments rank as the second largest growth sector after the residential real estate sector,' he added.

According to a Retail International study, massive increases in tourist activity and heightened retail and commercial development in Dubai have resulted in projected estimates of retail spending crossing AED27.89 billion by 2009.

Retail activities in shopping centres are expected to contribute about 50% to Dubai's GDP. By the same time, Abu Dhabi's retail spending is expected to touch AED7.19 billion and in Sharjah it is forecast to exceed AED2.36 billion. In total, retail spending in the UAE is estimated to reach nearly AED37.44 billion a year by 2009, if the current projections are an indication, says Retail International.

Driving this momentum is the continuing economic growth across the region. According to a recent IMF report GCC member countries are forecast to continue strong growth in 2006 due to high oil prices. Real GDP of the GCC grew by 6.8% in 2005, and is estimated to grow by 6.4% in 2006.
'Dubai could possibly be on course to become one of the most 'densely shopped city' in the world considering the number of malls and other retail units coming up,' remarked Mr. Taylor.' Thus long-term growth prospects are bright for the retail industry even if the current economic trends continue moderately,' he added.

Some global brands that have already strategically positioned themselves to tap the region's vast business potential include Tommy Hilfiger, Phard, Gap, Banana Republic, Neck & Neck, and Mont Blanc among others. These brands will be targeting the 18 to 30 year age group with their various wares at Fusion 06, which will have a progressive and contemporary clothing culture.

Besides mega brands, Fusion 06 will offer focused features for each industry segment. Special features including Fashion Shows, Make Over Zone, Fusion Chill Out Lounge, Chic Market Bazaar and Daily Competitions will cater to the requirements of industry segments and visitors alike.

Fusion 06 is expected to present completely unorthodox settings to participants and exhibitors while creating the right environment to make it a profitable and worthwhile experience.

Besides Fusion, IIR's portfolio includes flagship events like Cityscape, Arab Health, PALME (Pro Audio Light Middle East), The Bride Show Dubai & Ambiente Al Bayt Al Arabie.
