The launch of the new XK earlier this year marked the beginning of an exciting era for Jaguar in terms of design and engineering which further extenuates the brand's reputation for building beautiful, fast cars that are thrilling to drive and gorgeous to look at.
This award is yet another feather in Jaguar's cap as the new XK was awarded the 'Most exciting car to be launched in 2006' awarded by What Car? Magazine, the 'Engineering and Technology Award' at the prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards and the 'World Traffic Safety Symposium's Traffic Safety Achievement' Award in the Automaker category. It has been recognized for an all-new industry-leading feature - the pedestrian deployable bonnet which is designed to help mitigate the severity of injuries to pedestrians in the event of a collision with a car.
"The 'Car of the Year' award is one the most significant awards Jaguar has ever won and is a testament to just how good the new XK really is,"said Mr. Mark Gravener, General Manager of Mohammed Jalal & Sons.
The Jaguar XK's new supercharged version, the XKR, will make its global debut in the UK at the British International Motor Show, which opens at the ExCeL Centre in London's Docklands next month.
This eagerly awaited new GT sports car will continue to build on the momentum the XK has generated for Jaguar dealers and will be produced at the company's state of the art Castle Bromwich manufacturing centre in Birmingham alongside production of the XK.
The ever-growing popularity of the XK is not only due to the assertive good looks, but also that the 4.2 liter sports car is undoubtedly the most technologically advanced Jaguar ever built. Made up of a riveted aluminum monocoque body structure with a chassis that is very safe and very light, the XK offers impeccable performance and outstanding handling enhanced by great safety features.
The new XK Coupe arrived in Bahrain in May and is now available at Mohammed Jalal & Sons, the exclusive dealership of Jaguar in the kingdom.
