Gulf Navigation signs contract with Shell

Gulf Navigation Holding (GNH), the rapidly growing regionally-owned private shipping and marine services company, announced today that it had signed a three-year contract with Shell to time charter 'Gulf Scandic', its 150,000 tonne deadweight Suezmax tanker.

Capable of carrying 1 million barrels of crude oil, the vessel has been chartered to Shell at market related rates to trade worldwide. It will be in service with Shell from July 2006 till June 2009.

This is one of a series of tankers that Gulf Navigation has chartered to various oil majors around the world. With a fleet of 18 tankers and VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers), Gulf Navigation Holding is a leading shipping and marine services company in the region.

Speaking about the contract, Ghazi Al Ibrahim, Managing Director and CEO, Gulf Navigation Holding said:

"A long-term contract such as this reflects the credibility and confidence reposed in us by the oil majors. This contract is also a reflection of our operational standards; be they in safety, security, simple ship management on board ships or offshore capabilities."


"This agreement with Shell is part of our global market growth strategy that is based on direct marketing of our services at home and strategic partnerships with renowned entities in the producing regions," concluded Ghazi Al Ibrahim.
