Saudi gets own film festival

A mini film festival in Saudi is holding public screenings of regional short films at the Jeddah Science and Technology Centre, according to Arab News. There are 16 films, a mix of documentaries, short narratives and one cartoon, by filmmakers in Saudi, the UAE and Kuwait. Public cinemas have banned in the kingdom since the early 1980s.
