DCCI discusses relations with Ukraine

To enhance the joint cooperation between the UAE and Ukraine, Abdul Rahman G. Al-Mutaiwee, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Director General, yesterday received a trading mission from Ukraine headed by Sergiy I. Pachkovsky, President, Investment and Privatization Assistance Fund (IPAF), operating under the umbrella of Ukraine - UAE Business Council.

During the meeting, the trade and economic relations on all fronts and ways of enhancing them were discussed.

The meeting was attended by Sultan Lootah, DCCI Director of Business Promotion Department, Yuriy B. Pavlenko, Director of Crimean Peninsula Representative Office and Serghey Tokarev, Dubai -based Russian Emirates General Manager.

Al-Mutaiwee welcomed the Ukrainian trading mission and briefed them on the role DCCI plays in enhancing the trade in Dubai, supporting the business community's competitiveness to diversify and develop their activities and providing investors with opportunities to enable them to effectively communicate and react with their counterparts locally, regionally and internationally.

Mr Pachkovsky expressed his pleasure in visiting DCCI and thanked Al-Mutaiwee for the opportunity to discuss the ways of widening and boosting the bilateral relations. He extended an invitation to DCCI to participate in an economic forum to be held this September in Ukraine.

Dubai non-oil trade with Ukraine marked around AED1.2 billion in 2004 (including Free Zones' activities). Dubai's re-exports to Ukraine were around AED171 million, its exports to Ukraine were AED18.3 million, while its imports from there were AED557 million in the same year.
