The Programme, which will begin in September 2006, was launched at the Forum's first annual celebrations held in May.
Congratulating the group on their selection, Al Mahmoudi said: "The Tatweer Leadership Programme is the Forum's latest initiative to further its objectives of building a pool of leaders among UAE youth, capable of taking the initiative to turn ideas into business ventures, developing partnerships between private and public sector organisations, and giving a fillip to Sharjah's sustainable development."
Devised to train a maximum of 25 delegates at a time, the Tatweer Leadership Programme will be conducted in 12 sessions of two days each, held over a period of six months. It is directed mainly at young, Sharjah-based UAE National men and women who have completed at least their university or college education.
Participants will be exposed to emerging concepts and effective approaches in customer relationship management, strategic thinking, leadership and team building, analytical thinking and problem solving, executive coaching and mentoring and the use of psychometric assessment in selection and development of human resources.
The programme will feature visits to local organisations, lectures by visiting speakers; social events such as business breakfasts and dinners; presentations; individual research and sharing of information; group work; oral discussions, psychometric assessments and written materials.
"Young leaders have a pivotal role to play in ensuring the progress of our country, through the adoption of innovative approaches and a commitment to succeed. The Tatweer Leadership Programme strives to develop leadership and management skills among UAE National graduate men and women by exposing them to best practices and creative leadership development techniques,"
Al Mahmoudi added.
Since its launch, the Sharjah Tatweer Forum has held several events and workshops on issues such as Sharjah's cultural heritage, diversity and history; "Micro-financing of Small and Medium Enterprises", "World Trade Organisation and Free Trade Agreement - Opportunities and Challenges from a Local Perspective" and "The Importance of Innovation and Creativity in Business."
Formed as per a decree issued by H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the UAE Supreme Council, the Forum aims to develop the skills and competencies of National youth in Sharjah, build partnerships between the private and public sectors, encourage entrepreneurship, innovation and excellence in business and administration and ensure the emirate's overall progress.
