Women Expo gets backing of various groups

A large number of organisations including media entities, government institutions and private associations have officially endorsed Women Expo 2006 in support of the event's objective to further promote women empowerment in the sultanate.

Women Expo 2006, which is scheduled at the Oman International Exhibition Centre for December 10-15, has bagged the support of the Ministry of Health (MOH), the National Association for Cancer Awareness (NACA), the Omani Society of Fine Arts (OSFA), the Oman Women Association at Seeb, the Omani Women Association -Muscat, and the Omani Women Sports Development Committee. It is also supported by Al Mar'a as the official magazine and Al Youm as the media partner.

"The strong support of organisations representing various sectors of society clearly indicates the potential of Women Expo 2006 as a platform for promoting products and programs related to the general development of women," said C.J. Paul, general manager of Omanexpo LLC, the leading exhibition organising company in the sultanate.

Paul explained that the annual exhibition, which is now on its second year, will showcase everything intended to meet the needs and interests of women. In addition to cosmetics, jewelries and the latest fashion, Women Expo 2006 will present wedding concepts, kitchen appliances, home interiors as well as career opportunities and health services for women.

Smita Raj Handa, Event Manager of Women Expo 2006, added that the exclusive exhibition for women will also feature a series of exciting workshops and activities on all days of the event. These include cooking demonstrations, beauty product testing, fashion shows, and new product launches, all of which are expected to draw large crowds to the exhibition.

"With the help of our supporting organizations, we are doing everything to ensure that Women Expo 2006 will truly be an event that caters to every aspect of a woman's life," Handa stressed.
