"It is the only resort and Spa in this part of the world to have natural hot springs located within the premises. Visitors can enjoy the therapeutic powers of natural Khatt springs here",
said Elia Timani, Group Director of Sales and Marketing at Al Hamra Hotels Management Est., which runs the new facility.
Khatt Springs originating from the foot of RAK mountains is historically known for the rich curative properties of its thermal water springs gushing out at temperatures around 40C round the year with curative values for skin and rheumatic ailments.
The hotel, set up at a cost of AED 48 million, will also have top of the line facilities including an international restaurant, a 24 X 7 lounge, a health food restaurant and a fruit bar. In addition to its 130 rooms, various themed villas are to be constructed in the beautiful rock formations around the hotel.
"This project is the reflection of the vision of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, to turn the emirate into a hub of tourism by increasing hotel infrastructure and offering world class facilities. The role played by Dr. Khater Massaad, Advisor to the RAK Crown Prince, has been central in achieving remarkable progress in the RAK tourism sector", Timani added.
The Spa and beauty centre, covering 2000 sq. metres, will be the first in the region to offer precious stone treatments, where a variety of precious stones are used to boost wellness and cure ailments. "We also provide a wide range of Hot and Cold experiences and treatments like Ice grottos, serail baths (therapeutic mud), caldarium, and Cleopatra Bath (a milk/ oil bath). These, in addition to the Marine and Seaweed treatments make Khatt Spa the ultimate wellness destination in the region", Timani added.
"It will be the first medical hotel in the region in which leading professors and doctors- specialized in 'preventive and alternative
medicine'- from around the globe would work together under one roof", he said.
The spa, built by M/s Balnea of Germany, will have separate facilities for men and women with one outdoor pool, two indoor hydro pools, 12 aqua and dry treatment rooms, sauna, and a well equipped gym.
The Khatt Hot Springs site, situated adjacent to the hotel, will be upgraded to match five- star standards by September. The Hot Springs facility will offer additional spa services like private hot spring pools, Vichy shower, hot spring treatment rooms and Ayurveda treatments which are complemented by thermal water.
In the third stage, a host of preventive and alternative medicines, including Kryo Chamber, Laser acupuncture and `Foot bath' would be made available.
Hotel authorities have made arrangements to provide visitors with shuttle services to RAK beaches and other tourist locations.
