- PRESS RELEASE
Sheikh Hamad Bin Suhaim Al Thani, the Chairman of Qatar Navigation, declared that the company had achieved a net profit of Qrs. 165 million for the period ending 30th June, 2006 as compared to Qrs. 160 million for the same period in the year 2005.
Despite a negative movement of the Doha Securities Market's overall performance, Qatar Navigation however, reflected a growth in its results as compared to the same period in the year 2005. This was due to its unique policy decisions as well as key resource utilization.
The company has started construction of a new office tower in Daffna area amounting to Qrs. 420 million. Further, it is also exploring a project to build three new vessels for transportation of containers. The capacity per vessel would be about 1,000 TEUs.
The company expects to receive a new floating dry dock for repairing vessels. The floating dock is being built in Ukraine, which will be received at the end of August 2006 and is estimated to cost around Qrs. 25 million.
