- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, July 18 - 2006 at 16:39
- PRESS RELEASE
Mashreqbank and the Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP) have commenced intensive vocational training for 23 UAE Nationals in order to groom them for careers in banking.
The current 23 trainees are the first batch of recruits in a programme agreed between Mashreqbank and the ENDP to train 80 Nationals in this way this year.
"We are committed to providing young Nationals with the training and skills to enjoy fulfilling careers in banking. We hope to see more UAE nationals equipped with the best knowledge and skills at front desks and back offices of UAE's top banks," said Abdulaziz Al Ghurair, CEO of Mashreqbank.
Most applications received were from high school graduates, while others were diploma and bachelor graduates. "We have received many applications to join the training and this certainly proves the success of this partnership. We look forward to employing them in Mashreqbank as soon as their training period is over," added Abdulaziz Al Ghurair.
Azzah Al Sharhan, Director of ENDP said: "Our association with the Mashreqbank training programme marks the launch of ENDP's vocational training initiatives.
'ENDP has successfully conducted several workshops to impart industry specific skills to UAE nationals. We are extremely proud of the 23 Mashreqbank trainees who are the first to find job placements since the inception of ENDP's recruitment service, thus establishing a great milestone for the programme."
ENDP had started receiving applications from unemployed UAE national job seekers through its website and special booths in malls almost a month ago.
Emirates Nationals Development Programme was established in November 2005, under the directions of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. Its objective was to empower UAE nationals to start a career especially in the private sector.
