M-B regional sales climb 20%

Mercedes-Benz in the Middle East and the Levant announced sales of 8,750 units in the first six months of 2006, compared to 6,846 units in H1 2005, a rise of nearly 20%. The UAE was the biggest market with sales of 3,292. Saudi was the big mover, as sales increased by around 160% to 2,254 units. The flagship S-Class continues to prove popular in the region's luxury segment, recording half-year sales of 4,100 units.
